Bonn Researchers Innovate with AI for Sustainable Agriculture

Introduction to AI in Agriculture

Researchers at the University of Bonn are spearheading efforts to revolutionize agriculture through the use of artificial intelligence and robotics. The Hortibot: A Robotic Solution

At the heart of this project is the 'Hortibot', a robotic system designed to autonomously harvest vegetables. Developed by Christian Lenz and Rohit Menon, the robot uses multiple arms equipped with cameras and tools to accurately pick produce. The system, currently being tested in a greenhouse setting, is part of the PhenoRob project, supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

Innovative Approaches to Weed Control

In addition to harvesting, the Bonn team is working on robots equipped with lasers and sprayers to target and eliminate weeds precisely.
